Living Colors

• By Gideon Adegunle

Main text: 2 Corinthians 4:6(NIV)

For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

Introduction

Have you ever seen a life that feels radiant not loud, not artificial but deeply alive?

In the Kingdom of God, transformation is not meant to be hidden. When light touches something, it produces color. When Christ fills a life, He produces visible expression.

“Living colors” is not a biblical term, but it is a powerful spiritual picture. It describes a life that has encountered Light and now reflects it.

Color only exists where there is light. Without light, everything is shadow. Without Christ, everything is muted.

Light Produces Living Expression

In the beginning Genesis 1:3

“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”

Spiritually, when Christ enters a life, illumination begins. What was dull becomes defined. What was formless gains clarity.

Gospel of John 8:12

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Light of life produces visible change. It produces living color.

Living Colors Reflect Divine Nature

Color is reflection. It is how something responds to light.

A life in Christ reflects:

  • Love instead of hatred
  • Peace instead of chaos
  • Faith instead of fear
  • Hope instead of despair

Galatians 5:22-23

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…”

These are living colors of the Spirit. The world does not just hear the Gospel – it sees it.

It Begins Within

Before colors are visible outwardly, light must enter inwardly. 2Corinthians 4:6 “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts…”

Notice the pattern:

Genesis – light shines in creation.
Salvation – light shines in hearts.

Living colors are not personality traits. They are evidence of internal illumination.

Living Colors Contrast Dead Religion

Religion without life is monochrome. It has structure but lacks vibrancy.

Living color Christianity is:

  • Spirit-filled, not mechanical
  • Joyful, not forced
  • Transformative, not performative
  • Alive, not merely correct

5 Signs of a Life Carrying Living Colors

1. Authentic Joy
Your peace is not dependent on circumstances.

2. Visible Transformation
Old patterns fade; new fruit grows.

3. Compassionate Expression
Love becomes practical, not theoretical.

4. Consistent Illumination
You bring clarity into confused environments.

5. Reflective Humility
You do not generate the light – you reflect it.

Conclusion

Living colors describe a life illuminated by Christ and animated by the Spirit. The question is not whether color exists.
The question is whether light has been allowed to shine in your life . When light fills a life, the result is not dull survival but a living color.

It is the fear that comes when circumstances, challenges, weaknesses, or opposition appear greater than God’s ability to deliver. It can cause believers to doubt God’s promises, question their identity, and hesitate in fulfilling His purpose.
